Check-in isn't working
How organizer check-in and self check-in work, how to troubleshoot a stuck toggle or unscannable QR code, and why check-in never blocks play.
Check-in isn't working
When check-in seems stuck, the good news is that check-in status is cosmetic and never blocks a player from scoring or playing.
Overview
Redswing supports two ways to check players in: organizer check-in, where you toggle players from the dashboard, and self check-in, where players scan a QR code. Both write the same status, so you can fall back to one if the other has trouble. Check-in is purely informational, so no player is ever held up by it.
How to fix it
- Use organizer check-in by going to Dashboard → Events → [Event] → Check-in and toggling players checked in.
- Use self check-in by having players scan the check-in QR code, which opens the check-in page in their phone browser.
- If a toggle appears stuck, refresh the page and try the toggle again.
- If the QR code will not scan, read out the check-in URL to the player or check that player in manually from the dashboard.
- Continue the event normally regardless, because check-in status never blocks scoring or play.
Things to know
- Organizer check-in and self check-in write the same status, so mixing both during an event is fine.
- A stuck toggle is almost always a stale page that a refresh clears.
- A QR code that will not scan can always be replaced by reading out the URL or checking the player in manually.
- Check-in is cosmetic, so a player who is not checked in can still score and play without issue.
Still stuck?
Open the chat assistant — the red Ask AI button in your dashboard — and it can look up the player, check delivery logs, and resend links for you. On event day, use the emergency contact button to reach Jeanine directly.
